We need to prep a war chest to fight back against multiple threats to British Farming. Please chip in what you can so that we are ready.
The US election may be over. But that doesn’t buy safety for long. Liz Truss is now planning to complete a US-UK deal by July 2021. A no-deal Brexit would see WTO rules wreck British farming and exports. Then there are other trade deals waiting.
In fact, shortly after the recent government “concession” on the Trade and Agriculture Commission, the Department of International Trade tweeted: “If we refuse to trade with anyone unable to match our high production standards, we will harm producers in the world's poorest countries.” Really – they are now actively advocating lower standards than ours for imports. They are making the case for doing exactly the opposite of what we all signed petitions for. Why are they doing this? Because they are determined to get in cheap, sub-standard food and prioritise that over British farming livelihoods, safer food, environmental concerns and better animal welfare. They want the race to the bottom.

We’re not having that. The public don’t want that. We want a world of rising standards in which British farming thrives in our rural communities. We have sent “Save British Farming” banners all over the country, we have run tractor demonstrations and events all over the country; in Northallerton, Stokesley, Swindon, Marlborough, Melton Mowbray, Wales, Ipswich and in Parliament itself – twice! All with tons of media coverage (including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and ample local press). We have a rocketing social media community that we want to expand faster… and we’re planning to expand this to a full “rural revolt” across the country to show local communities and MPs that we’re not going away – we are fighting for our livelihoods, food and the very nature of our rural communities.
Help us. Chip in now. Thank you.
